I use a range of therapeutic tools, techniques and strategies that best fit the client. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills, Motivational Interviewing, Rogerian Counselling and supportive psychotherapies.
I do not try to “hook” people in to long term counselling - I welcome people who can only commit to 6 sessions equally to those who want longer term support. My focus is on providing knowledge & skills that can be utilised in “the real world”.
I am highly experienced in working with people who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric illness and who have been prescribed medications. I am equally happy to work with people who want psychotherapy with no medication involvement. I am endorsed as a Clinical Psychology Medicare Provider, and with appropriate referral clients are eligible for up to 10 sessions where a significant part of the fee is refundable under Medicare.
Sessions are generally initially 50-55 minutes duration, with shorter appointments of 30 minutes also available.
I have a kind, caring, practical and direct approach to helping clients manage their mental health, their relationships and their life in general.
